This is CeCe. Karma and I decided to help sweep the floor last night. I am loving it at my foster home, but I am still waiting for a family of my own. I am a very sweet girl. I am housebroken and I don't have to stay in the crate. I like playing with the tug rope or tennis ball. I like sleeping on the Kuranda bed at night. I like going for walks and I am a very good girl on the leash. I have a very pretty fluffy golden coat. Oh, one more thing before I go, Karma is a Golden Queen and I am a Golden Princess. CeCe went for a long walk with Boston yesterday. She is a dream on the leash. She did not have to stop at all the mail boxes and she did not pull on the leash. We have nicknamed her Sugar Bear. She has the softest coat and she is the sweetest girl. She also likes to pose for the camera.

Hi everybody. This is CeCe. I got a chance to use my mom's computer and I wanted to say hi. I'm still at my foster home. I'm having a good time, but I sure would like to have my own family. The Night Before Rescue

Santa works quietly in mysterious ways

He stops by shelters and picks up strays.
He knows the names of those who care
And places dogs in rescue so MAGRR beware.

He slips past the hustle and bustle and strife

To find a perfect family to foster this life.
They feed and they love this new rescued pup
And wait for a forever family to pick them up.

There are too many stops like this one you see

People discarding their pets and setting them free.
But just when you think there is no hope for this pup
A wonderful MAGRR volunteer steps up.

It takes a lot of people to carry out this dream
From intake to fosters to the home visiting team.
So maybe it wasn't Santa that worked in mysterious ways
But a group of MAGRR folks that saved us that day.

Thanks so much for rescuing me from the shelter. I now have a new family that loves me. I will forever be grateful for the wonderful people who saved my life.

As I was going through my foster list, I kept thinking that I was missing someone. Well, I forgot to add Jonah. He was adopted in 2006. I remember him so well, because he climbed over our 6 foot wooden fence. While I was driving to school this morning, I kept thinking that I did not remember seeing his name. I get updates on him from time to time because his mom is a MAGRR volunteer and she is also a runner.
Our sweet Lula Belle leaves tomorrow. We will miss our sweet Lula. Even though she has only been with us several weeks, it is hard to say goodbye.

We run for Rescue!

We ran the St. Jude Half Marathon this morning. Wendy and I ran for MAGRR, Tim ran for NMGDR and Sherry ran for the Vining Sparks Hero Team. I'm not sure we can say it was lots of "fun", but we all finished and it was a great race. Around 11,000 runners were on the course and lots of volunteers cheered along the way. Around mile 7, someone came along beside me and asked if I had fostered Autumn. We chatted a little while and it was so great to talk to one of our Foster's adopters. Autumn is now Sooie and she lives in Germantown with her family. That alone was worth the 13.1 miles.

I know it is a little early to bring out the Christmas gear, but I could not resist. Just this evening as my foster mom was channel surfing, we came across the movie Santa Paws. I watched it for a few moments and I realized that I am Moe Paws. I must be Puppy Paws' cousin. I look so much like Puppy Paws and his dad Santa Paws. I realized that I am looking for my special Christmas gift this year. I am asking Santa Paws to find me a very special family to call my own. I now know that MAGRR came to my rescue just in time for the Christmas season. In the movie, everything turned out great in the end. Everyone was so happy. I can't wait to meet my new family. We had to say goodbye to our foster boy Coach yesterday as he traveled to meet his new family. So, after school, I picked up our newest foster boy. Moe is a sweet little golden boy. He is 8 months old. I picked him up yesterday and he has now settled in at his foster home. We took Moe to the Wags and Whiskers Walk this morning with Boston. They quickly became best friends. If you are looking for a small golden with lots of love to give, check back for updates on sweet Moe. Today at the walk, a lady asked how we can foster and then have to say goodbye. I told her the truth. It is not easy. We are not any different than anyone else. We give them a hug, kiss them on the nose and tell them that we love them and that we are so fortunate to have met them.

Coach has settled in at his foster home. He is a great golden boy. He is very laid back and just loves being around people and our other dogs. He and Boston are becoming best "foster friends". He is a beautiful blonde boy. We did put him in the crate on Monday, but this sweet boy does not need to be crated. He is housetrained and he loves to chew on a Nyla bone or just lay around and nap. He takes his treats like a nice boy and he knows sit.

Ruby is a true example of a perfect "golden". She has been with us a little over a week and she has been the perfect foster. She is very laid back and just loves being with everyone. We only crated her one day. She does not bark, counter surf, or jump on people. She takes her treats nicely, does all her business outside, goes up and down the stairs, rides in the car good, and goes in and out the doggy door. She gets along great with our goldens and she is fine with children. Could Ruby be the girl for you?

We picked up Ruby today and she is recovering from her surgery (spay). It is evident that someone did not take good care of this precious gem. Lille Belle arrived safely in Maine. She is getting to know her new family and they love her already. I will admit that I got a little teary eyed over this little one. It never gets any easier to let them go. I came across a story titled "Just a Dog" and for me, and fosters like me, it's not "Just a Dog." It's a combination of the hope for their future, the memories of the time we shared with them and the joy of the moment that keeps us going. The words "Who Rescued Who?" says it all.

Lillie Belle is so much fun to have around. She went to the Germantown Festival with us yesterday and everyone loved her. She got to meet lots of people and lots of goldens. She even met 2 big Great Danes as we were leaving. Of course, I forgot to take my camera so no pictures. When we got home Lillie took a nap and then she was ready to play. She and Karma enjoyed playing with the tug rope. She also enjoyed getting the tennis ball when Cedar was too slow. He was so patient waiting for her to give it up. She is so much fun to watch.

Meet our new foster girl, Lillie Belle. She is such a sweet little "baby girl". She met our goldens and played outside with them for a little while and now she is taking a nap. She just wants a family that will love her and take good care of her. She is learning to use the doggy door and she does fine walking up and down the stairs. Sunshine reminds me so much of my first dog. For my college graduation, all I wanted was an Irish Setter. I named her Sugar and she was a sweetheart. I found some pictures of Sugar when she was about 1-2 years old. Of course, I did not have the date on the picture so I am just guessing. Sunshine has the same personality that my sweet Sugar had. Sunshine is going to make her new family very happy.

Meet our new foster girl, Sunshine. Walker went on a play date (to another foster home) a week or so ago, and he is still there. It was time for me to head back to school and Walker did not want to stay in one of those crates all day. He is having a big time at his other foster home. I picked up Little Miss Sunshine last week and she is a doll. She is a victim of those nasty heartworms but other than that, she is a healthy and precious young lady.

Walker went over to my sister's house to visit this morning. He met Gidget and Gracie and liked hanging out in the back yard and eying the swimming pool. Walker is really enjoying being in a nice cool house. With the heat index near 109 degrees, the goldens don't stay out too long. Cedar would love to play ball, but it is too hot. He will get to play for a short while in an hour or so. Walker has realized that he can play with the toys in the basket. He took each item out of the basket and put it on the patio. One by one he took out a bone, a ball or a tug rope and took it outside.

Meet our new foster boy. He is getting to know just how great it is to have a family that cares for him. He is a little shy right now, but once he knows that he is safe and loved, this beautiful boy will be shine. If anyone remembers seeing the movie "Puppy Paws" then you can see the resemblance. He has already learned to go in and out the doggy door and he is beginning to play with the Nyla bone. He can already go up and down the stairs. Check back for more updates.

Fancy will be traveling to her new home in a few weeks and we will truly miss this little girl. She is so much fun to have around. She has learned so many things while living at her foster home. She loves our other goldens and they like her too. Cedar has taught her how to play ball (she even jumps up to catch the ball on the first bounce). She will also bring the ball back and place it in your hand. She learned to use the doggy door and she is completely house trained. She also loves to go on walks. Fancy has not let us down. She is one of my all time favorite fosters. It is really funny to see her hang out with Cedar while the two goldens hang out. Now don't get me wrong, Fancy can get into a little mischief. If you leave a pair of shoes out and about, you may need to buy a new pair.

Fancy went to my sisters house yesterday. She loved Gracie and Gidget. She also loved chewing on Matthew's Crocs. Oops, I'm sorry Matthew. She hung out with us all afternoon by the pool (she was in the shade). I had to put her in the car, but once she was in there, she loved riding. We made a trip to the vet so she could have her skin rechecked. She was all clear with any skin issues. In fact, she has a beautiful blonde coat. She met a golden in the waiting room and just wanted to play.

Fancy has settled in at her foster home. She loves the other dogs, but Robbie just had to show her that he was the boss. He fussed at her when she came through the doggie door yesterday and she has some scratches on her nose. She is fine, but now she has a new name. We have been calling her Scarlett. She loves to play fetch with the tennis ball. It is so much fun watching her go after the ball just like Cedar. As you can see in the video, Robbie and Karma aren't too interested in chasing the ball.

Last night we had another round of thunder storms in the Memphis area. Lots of loud thunder and lightening. The wind was blowing so hard, that we lost another big limb from one of the trees in the backyard. Fancy had a great time bringing one of the big limbs in through the doggie door. I took it back outside, and she tried to bring it back in. She is so much fun to have around. She is not one bit afraid of the thunder or rain. In fact, she wanted to go outside while it was pouring.

Hi everybody, this is Fancy. My foster mom decided to let me post a message. I overhead her talking last night and I heard the word Lab. She said that I reminded her so much of Cedar. I didn't really understand, because I thought Cedar was a Golden Retriever. I did notice that his hair was shorter than the goldens, but I did not think too much about it. Since I was rescued by a nice lady with the Golden Retriever rescue, I thought I was a golden too. If it wasn't for the golden rescue, I would not be alive today. You see, I was in one of those high kill shelters and my days were numbered. I guess it was just my lucky day and I was saved. Well, I look just like Cedar. I was a little bummed out when I heard this, because I know that people who come to the blog are looking for "real" goldens. Now, before you decide to pass me by, let me tell you a little about Cedar. First of all, his mom is a Golden Retriever. Her name is Jamie and she was adopted after her puppies were about 6 weeks old. He is perfect. At least my foster mom thinks so. He is very sweet, lovable, tall, blonde, happy, loves other dogs, swims, loyal, and he loves to retrieve the tennis ball. You may be asking yourself why am I talking about Cedar so much. Well, I am just like him. I love to retrieve the ball, I'm lovable, tall (for a puppy), blonde, short hair, loves everyone, I just might be the "perfect" golden for you. So, if you can look past my short blonde hair, maybe I would be the perfect one for you.

Fancy went with us to Matthew's baseball game this evening. She was so well behave and every one thought she was the sweetest thing. We talked with a couple whose friends adopted Eva Grace a few weeks ago. Fancy represented MAGRR very well. By the way, the Cubs won the game.

I remember it all very well lookin back

I lived in a wire cage in cold damp shelter
On the outskirts of a small country town.

I didn't have a family or food
To say the least I was running out of time.
Then a nice lady from MAGRR found it in her plans
To make a trip to this small country town.

Well, the lady came and took a look at my thin, wiry coat
She patted me on the head and smiled and said the red collar would fit me good.
And standing back from the wire cage
I began to have some hope again.

She said "Here's your one chance Fancy, don't let me down.
Here's your one chance Fancy, don't let me down."

I could not resist writing some lyrics for Fancy MAGRR. When I first saw her picture, I knew that I wanted to foster this sweet little girl. This is what rescue is all about. Thanks to MAGRR, this girl has a second chance on life. Fancy is a smart girl. She knows sit and she learned to use the doggy door. She likes to retrieve the tennis ball and play with the rope. When I picked Fancy up at CPH, I thought "How can people treat their pets this way?" and then Zetta was rescued from the Collierville shelter yesterday. She is even in worse shape than Fancy. Please keep Zetta and her foster family in your prayers. When we pick up our foster babies, we form a bond and we love them just like they were our own. Our hearts hurt for those who are neglected and treated badly. Thanks to all the foster families who put their hearts on the line.

Wow, what a week! With the flood of the century in the Memphis area, things have been a little tense around here. My foster mom has been checking the river level everyday on the Internet and she has worried about all the people that have lost their homes. I was watching the news on Monday, and I think the river has decided that it is high enough. I guess I will always remember that I was in Memphis during this terrible time. I'm not sure if I really want to remember all of the news stories though. There are lots of animals in temporary shelters and I know that they would like to be at home. I don' want anyone to get all emotional, so I will talk about me. I have been such a good boy at my foster home. However, I will admit that I did get a little nervous last night when we had a thunder storm. Yes, you heard me right, Memphis got more rain. I have so many great qualities though, that I am hoping that you can overlook my anxiety about storms. Let me see, I am housebroken, I can go up and down stairs, I can go in and out a doggie door, and I do not counter surf. I am not a big barker, I can retrieve the tennis ball, and I take my treats nicely. My mom just said that I was bragging, so I guess I should stop listing my great qualites. I heard Karma whisper to Robbie that I really should not get too comfortable, because I won't be here very long. I heard her say that they usually come and go in about 2 weeks. Meet our new foster boy Jimbo. He is settling in at our home. He is getting to know our golden pack. As you may all know, the Memphis area is dealing with a major flood of the century. All I have done for several days is watch the news and read about how all of this flood water is affecting our area. People are losing their homes and all of their personal items. Pets are being sent to a temporary shelter because their owners are having to evacuate. Everyone around the downtown area and West Memphis are on edge. Everyday when I drive across the Hernando Desoto Bridge on I40, I see the water level getting higher and higher. My point in mentioning all of this, is the fact that we never know when something like this might happen. We take so many things for granted. Sometimes when we think that things just aren't going the way we want them to, think of those who have lost everything. Think of the animals that have been taken to shelters where they are stressed and unsure. So, if we get a thunder storm and Jimbo gets a little nervous we will be here for him. Please keep Memphis and the mid south in your thoughts and prayers. One more thing, for every bad story you read about Memphis, there is a good one. People are volunteering their time at shelters and donating all types of personal items. We have read lots of heart warming stories about the people in our area.

Well, the goldens are enjoying having me at home. Today is the second day that my school is closed due to flooding. The experts are now predicting that the Mississippi River will crest at 48 feet by May 10.
